QuarkXPress Server 7.22 Known Issues

Following is a list of issues discovered in QuarkXPress® Server 7.22.

  • Mac OS only: If you use QuarkXPress Server to create an EPS output style that specifies Composite RGB in the Setup drop-down menu (Color pane), the QuarkXPress Server subrenderer unexpectedly quits when you submit a render request that specifies the output style.
Workaround: To create a composite RGB EPS, use the commands in QuarkXPress.
  • Text added manually in a text box that contains text placeholders is not preserved when the project containing the text box is deconstructed. If you construct a project based on an XML file, manually add text to the project in QuarkXPress, and then deconstruct the project, the text is not preserved.
Workaround: Use the modifer XML to edit QuarkXPress projects that contain text placeholders (Textnodeph).
  • The size of files that contain Unicode language characters is 0 bytes when you issue a getdocpoollist request on an operating system that does not use the language.
Workaround: Use a computer with a supported OS language to issue the getdocpoollist request.
  • Layout specification names in a Quark Job Jackets file are not retained correctly when you use the jjname parameter to deconstruct and reconstruct a QuarkXPress project that contains custom layout specifications.
  • Master pages and many resources in a Quark Job Jackets file are not retained correctly when you use the jjname parameter to deconstruct and reconstruct a QuarkXPress project. Some of the missing resources include Contacts, External Resources, Job Descriptions, Rules, Rule Sets, and Output Specifications.
  • Windows 2003: QuarkXPress Server unexpectedly quits when it is running in ThreadMe mode and you open any QuarkXPress Server dialog box after using the keepdocopen request.
Workaround: Run QuarkXPress Server in master/subrender mode when using the keepdocopen request in QuarkXPress Server Manager.
  • Anchored Bézier and freehand items are not preserved when you deconstruct and reconstruct a QuarkXPress project.
Workaround: To preserve these shapes, create an EPS file to contain them instead.
  • Mac OS and Windows 2003: Accented characters display incorrectly when you use the ”savepath” parameter with the “keep document open” request.
Workaround: To preserve accented character display, save the project in the same location, but with a different name.
  • Mac OS: When you use the getdocpoollist request on Mac OS, the file extension for Job Jackets files is TXT instead of XML.
