QuarkXPress Server 7.21 Known Issues
Following is a list of issues discovered in QuarkXPress® Server 7.21.
- In ThreadMe mode, if you check Allow Document to Stay Open in QuarkXPress (QuarkXPress/Edit > Preferences > QuarkXPress Server pane), but then check Force Served Documents Closed in QuarkXPress Server (QuarkXPress Server > Server Configuration > Server tab), QuarkXPress Server may unexpectedly quit if you send more than one Modify request to a project using the QXP namespace.
- Fonts are embedded in a rendered PDF document even when the Download All Fonts option is not checked for the PDF output style.
- If you render a document with the outputstyle parameter set to document, blank pages do not render even when the PDF output style is saved with Include Blank Pages checked in the rendered document's capture settings in QuarkXPress.
- If you render a document with the outputstyle parameter set to document, the spread format does not render even when the PDF output style is saved with Spreads checked in the rendered document's capture settings in QuarkXPress.
- If you render a document with the outputstyle parameter set to document, the separate PDF files do not render even when the PDF output style is saved with Export pages as separate PDFs checked in the rendered document's capture settings in QuarkXPress.
- If you use XML modify to import a Word document into a text box, any straight quotation marks are not converted to typesetter's quotation marks even when you set the STORY@CONVERTQUOTES.
- If you use XML modify to create a table with text, and you apply an angle to the text, an error occurs when you open the project in QuarkXPress.
- Windows® only: If you use XML modify to import text into a table, text does not wrap in cells even when the Autofit setting is on.
- If you send a qxpdoc request from Firefox®, and the project to be rendered lacks the ".qxp" suffix, the request might not succeed.
- If a rendered project's name is in a language other than the system language of the computer on which QuarkXPress Server is running, rendering requests for that project might not succeed. Note, however, that ASCII characters are supported in all languages.
- EPS files downloaded from Web browsers running on Mac OSŪ do not include PICT previews.
- If XML content that contains the "&" character is sent in a URL, the "&" character is interpreted as a delimiter. Send such XML content with a POST request or in a XML file.
- When working in ThreadMe mode, disable QuarkVista XTensions® software and use no-UI mode. If you need to make changes to the server configuration, launch the application in UI mode and make the changes, then relaunch the application in no-UI mode. (Note that you can use QuarkVista XTensions software in master-subrenderer mode.)
- The Safari™ browser does not display XML tags; it displays only the values between the tags. However, you can display server preferences in XML form if you use the HTML=true parameter when you submit a getprefs request.
- Windows only: When you submit a PDF rendering request that uses quotation marks, the text between the quotation marks is not rendered.
- Mac OS only: If you deconstruct a project that contains Greek characters, some characters display incorrectly.
- If you request that a layout be rendered in PDF format, and the PDF to Folder option is selected in the PDF pane of the Preferences dialog box (Edit/QuarkXPress Server menu), the Status Monitor window displays the file size as zero.
- If you use Telegraph XTensions software to name a box in a QuarkXPress project in any supplemental language and then open the same project on a different operating system, the name of the box displays incorrectly.
- If the default render type is PDF, and you render a QuarkXPress project that contains glyphs that use a missing Type 1 PostScript® font, QuarkXPress Server displays incorrect characters in place of those glyphs.
- After you have installed Quark® License Administrator (QLA), you must specify a value for Maximum extended check out for free run count (days) in the QLA Control Panel Configuration options. The maximum valid value is 9999 days. Set this value to the length of time you expect the QuarkXPress Server license to be checked out. Quark recommends that you set this preference to the maximum value.
- When you run QuarkXPress Server as a service, the application runs under the local system account. However, printers are typically added by other users. Consequently, Quark recommends that you install a PostScript printer on the system or copy the registry data for printers from HKEY_CURRENT_USER for logged-on users to the default user registry keys. The process is described in Microsoft® KB Q184291 at support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3BQ184291. (In non-service mode, a PostScript request is sent to the default printer.)
